Milburngate, Durham City

2.1 hectares
Mixed use, office, leisure

The redevelopment of Milburngate represents the second and major phase of the Durham Riverside Renewal which has already seen the redevelopment of the former derelict ice rink to create Freemans Reach, the new home for National Savings and Investments and the Passport Office. The redevelopment of Milburngate House represents a true mixed use development of homes, offices, restaurants, shops, a cinema, hotel and leisure with an initial phase of 53,000 sq feet of offices in the city centre followed by a further 170,000 sq ft of space complemented by a hotel, restaurants, cinema and private residential apartments with views of Cathedral and Castle making up the World Heritage Site.

The development is brought by the Arlington Richardson Development partnership supported by Durham County Council. The developers of Milburngate have secured a £120 million forward-funding commitment from LaSalle Investment Management, which will enable the delivery of the first phase of the Durham City Centre project creating over 1000 jobs.
