River Tyne Renaissance
The Sage Arena, conference and exhibition centre will act as a catalyst for development opportunities along the River Tyne and beyond – delivering a River Tyne Renaissance.
The impact of The Sage will build confidence in development along the River Tyne, where there is potential for up to £2billion of investment in new homes, offices, leisure and cultural attractions, along with major public transport extensions.
Opportunities on the banks of the River Tyne and beyond include:
- 6,000 homes.
- 700,000 sqm of commercial development.
- An established award-winning decarbonised energy network which will support the Council achieve it’s 2030 Net Zero target.
Quays Phase 2
The Sage is surround by 11 hectares of prime development sites owned by the Council for office, leisure and housing development that will create an exciting place to live, work, play and thrive. A £35m investment in local transport infrastructure has already increased accessibility for residents, workers and visitors.
MetroGreen
In the area known globally for the MetroCentre, attracting 21million visitors annually through retail and leisure tourism, the Council has the vision to turn 45 hectares of land into a thriving urban community of 2,000 homes and an additional 15,000sq metres of commercial space.
