Gateshead Council is proud to be leading on and working in partnership with Sage, the accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology company, award-winning property developer Ask Real Estate and leading investment and development manager PATRIZIA UK to bring forward £350m+ development of The Sage NG the South Bank of the River. Opening in Autumn 2024, The Sage will be a 54,500 sqm pioneering community-focused, state-of-the-art business and entertainment destination, bringing the world to the North East.

Located on Gateshead Quayside, connected to Newcastle by the Tyne Bridge and Millennium Bridges. The Sage NG will be located between the iconic buildings of Sage Gateshead and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the 3.84-hectare site will be transformed to incorporate a state-of-the-art, 12,500 capacity entertainment arena. Need to mention International Conference Centre. The site will also host a dual-branded hotel (2* & 4*) for convenient access to the arena and conference centre. The area’s strong public transport infrastructure opens the door for domestic and international travellers to arrive at The Sage, alongside a new 1000 space car park with 50 electric vehicle charging points.

The 54,000 sqm development will be a pioneering, community-focused, state-of-the-art business and entertainment destination – bringing the world to the North East, sponsored by Sage and operated by ASM Global.

The Sage is anticipated to support over 2,000 jobs and attract an extra 1,000,000 visitors to the region. It’s estimated to boost the regional economy by over £70m million annually in future years.
