Planning a city to improve health. Simple?
We all know healthier places can be created by shaping the built environment. To many, the positive impact of healthy placemaking is a no brainer, but how can we ensure everyone creates places that deliver healthier lives? Is there one blueprint that suits cities and towns of all shapes and sizes? This event will discuss how the design of a building can have a positive impact on people’s lives and examine some of the key challenges of healthy placemaking, such as access to data and the lack of a shared vision.
Last year at MIPIM, Gateshead was selected as one of RIBA’s ‘UK’s Top Five Future Places’. GT3 Architects were one of the five RIBA Chartered Practices chosen to work alongside the five local authorities selected to participate in the RIBA Future Place programme. GT3 is now working together with Gateshead to deliver meaningful change which will enhance people’s lives, improve community wellbeing and create sustainable environments. This event will hear from the key figures behind the programme and their ambitions for the region.
