Morton Group at MIPIM 2020
21 Feb 2020
CEO Gary Morton discusses his goals for the world’s leading property market conference.
MIPIM 2019 was a first for Morton Group, but by no means the last. Last year’s global property market helped open the door to new partnerships and opportunities, as well as get our name across to some of the biggest players in the industry. Now with 206 residential units either in for planning, due to start or on site, I’m confident that MIPIM 2020 will be an even bigger success for us.
I co-founded Morton Group in 2016 with my father Brian and since then the company has grown to almost 90 employees. Consisting of LOK Developments, Kapex Construction and Regents Gate Homes, we can act as both developer and contractor on development projects.
LOK Developments, which specialises in acquiring land and buildings, has secured in excess of £50m of investment over the last 18 months. It currently has 206 residential units in for planning, due to start or already on site, including Regents Plaza Apartments, Sycamore Square and Regent Manor in Newcastle. In total, there’s £93m worth of developments in the pipeline for LOK Developments.
Kapex Construction is the building delivery arm of the business. It saw a turnover of £1.45m in its first year which rose to £3.1m in 2018/19 and is expected to hit £12m by the end of this financial year (April 2019 – March 2020). Looking ahead, Kapex has a confirmed order book of £36m.
We’re joining Invest Newcastle at MIPIM 2020 to promote the fantastic work being carried out within the city’s property landscape to demonstrate the real potential that Newcastle and the North East has to offer to investors.
Morton Group also hopes to relay our unique business offer to investors: a fully integrated service carrying projects from concept to construction and disposal, all the while operating an entirely open book approach to provide full transparency to our partners.
We’re particularly looking forward to speaking to smaller private equity firms from across the UK, to showcase the projects we’re working on in Newcastle and how we can deliver the same results nationally, as a means of furthering our growth as a business in the long run.
To discover more about the Morton Group and learn about our current and upcoming projects, as well as our partnership opportunities, come along to our drinks reception at the Invest Newcastle stand (C19) on Wednesday, 11 March, from 5pm – 7pm. I look forward to seeing you there!
