Located in Haarlem, the pioneering architectural practice is delighted to have successfully recruited Dutchman Wouter Peltenburg to lead the team.
Partner, Gareth Callen, said, “The residential and commercial architecture in the Netherlands is inspiring and we feel the time is right to combine our own experience with the local knowledge and expertise of the new Ryder team, tapping into current and future opportunities together.”
Managing partner, Mark Thompson added, “We have been considering establishing a team in the Netherlands for a few years and, through an ex colleague of Gareth’s, we were introduced to Wouter last year. A strong relationship has evolved and, with the current political uncertainty of Brexit in the UK, this presents an exciting opportunity to extend our reach irrespective of what our politicians decide.”
Ryder, established in Newcastle in 1953, now also has offices in London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Hong Kong and Vancouver, and through Ryder Alliance in Australia, Hungary, Spain and South Africa. Projects range in value from £50,000 to £300m including civic, education, healthcare, infrastructure, leisure, manufacturing, office, residential, retail and science sectors.
The move is timely in supporting Ryder’s increasing international presence. The Vancouver team recently secured the £88m Pacific Residence student residential scheme for the University of British Columbia and the team in Hong Kong are engaged on a broadening portfolio of projects across various sectors including Kowloon Police Headquarters.
